While it is true that there are many Arts Colleges around the world, most of them are built upon an old and outdated paradigm. For the most part, each discipline tends to focus on Arts Education as it pertains to their specific area of expertise to the exclusion of others. Most institutions have separate departments for each discipline and make no effort to create cooperatative synergies with others. In our minds, it is counter-intuitive to isolate the various disciplines and not allow them to learn from artistic interaction with people outside of their primary domain.
In addition to that, two very important facets of artistic growth are either relegated to the periphery, or ignored all together. The first is the importance of understanding WHY a person feels the pull of the arts as a vocation and whether they understand the personal price that must be paid to pursue it, and second, how learning to foster interpersonal synergy and create art as a COLLECTIVE rather than an isolated originator is a productive mindset.
In order to withstand to many challenges of an artistic life, the person has to understand their inner drive to create. We have introduced The Dynamic Componential Model of Artistic Creativity which can provide a window into one’s soul and hopefully induce an understanding of the cost of this lifestyle choice.
Also, being a singular tortured artist is all fine and good until you have to start a career in your field. The real world requires many variations on cross-discipline cooperation that must be understood and managed in a professional manner.
For this reason we are creating both a new, and updated model of artistic study that can provide a nurturing, safe space for like minded individuals to learn and grow.
